16 gen 2017 by Fred HWe traveled with a family group of 10; The Ruspante accommodations were very attractive and comfortable and perfectly suited to our needs. Additionally, the food was just great and the owners went out of there way to either provide or arrange transportation for our visit, which centered around a large and lively reunion with family who live nearby. Thanks to Pasqualino and all!
17 ott 2016 by barbaramichael999This was our second trip to Castro Dei Volsci Il Ruspante Agriturismo and we enjoyed it even more. We have made real friends with Antonella, Pasqualino, Annalisa and especially Marianna. What did we like about our southern Italian holiday? Learning how to cook genuine southern Italian food, visiting where the locals make top quality olive oil, walking in the hills covered in wild sage with the goat herders, visiting a buffalo mozzarella factory, driving up to the historic hilltop village of Castro dei Volsci, wandering through the narrow passage ways and then strolling back down the hill. On the coast nearby we visited the national archeological ruins, the grotto of Emperor Tiberius. It is thought that this is where he enjoyed relaxing and partying with his friends Especially interesting was the historical introduction to the WW II battle of Montecasino, which raged in the valleys and hills around Castro. This will be of great interest to WW II history buffs. Southern Italy is quite different to the north as it is not especially busy with tourists and so you can get a genuine feeling for the people. We have become really good friends with the people at Il Ruspante and we promised to return in two years and will if we can do so. Visit if you can. We are sure you will enjoy your holiday there.
2 ott 2016 by PIt was a great retreat suggested by my wife's cousin who knew the owner. Excellent choice on our behalf. We stayed above the restaurant and walk down each morning to a great breakfast then headed out to visit family or explore country. I would definitely recommend this stay to experience the life of the area. We were made to feel at home during our stay.
1 ott 2016 by tbr187We wanted to find a " real Italian " experience in the beautiful Italian countryside, and Castro Dei Volsci's Agriturismo II Ruspante was the perfect answer. We were very impressed at the beautifully renovated farmhouse where we stayed. Each room was decorated in stunning detail and tastefully done. Our room was very cozy, with a comfortable bed, and exceptional cleanliness. We couldn't stop taking pictures. Just reading outside in the courtyard was relaxing and comfortable after our visits to Lake Coma, Milano, Bologna and Florence. The owners, Pasquelino and Angelina were amazing hosts. They did everything and anything to make our stay amazing. Assisting with everything from tours, to train tickets. I cannot think of more accomodating hosts I've ever met, ever. Their restaurant (right across the street) is just enhanting, and the food unbelievably delicious. A beautiful breakfast every morning, with great coffee. " molto bene!" Marriana graciously took us into the hilltop town to see the history and wonderful views of the town and countryside from high above. Castro Dei Volsci is a hidden treasure just a short distance from Rome. And Diego, the owner's son met with us in San Maria's church to try and find family history records. And we were Successful! The Padre was a wonder man. This was truly a once in a life time experience. We can't wait to get back to II Ruspante.
TOM083 UK (TP) Febbraio 2016Broseley, Regno UnitoWhat a wonderful establishment, we arrived quite late, driving up after our flight to Naples and went straight into the restaurant across the road (linked to the hotel). The food was out of this world - during our week stay in the Italy, nothing came close to the quality of the food here. It was only on check out that we discovered that both of our meals (and a small dish for our 22-month old daughter came to only 30 euros with half a litre of wine and a large bottle of mineral water). The owners (I presume) were absolutely fabulous and we checked into our room after finishing our meal. Another 'wow' - the rustic farmhouse is exactly as the pictures suggest, such attention to detail and incredible furnishings which ooze both traditional and mod-cons. We had a great night's sleep but unfortunately were up, off and on the road again by 9am (after a decent breakfast, again at the restaurant). I would almost go back to Italy just to stay here for a longer period - the food and accommodation were outstanding, as was the service and communication before we arrived.
JOAN GUB. (TP) Agosto 2015"Very pleasant stay". Beautiful room, super delicious restaurant and more than hospitable owner. We have twice been able to enjoy the delicious local Italian dinner. The breakfast was tasty and more than adequate. The owners were aimed to make our stay as pleasant as possible, despite the language barrier. They even took us to an Italian food festival and paid for us all. The pasta workshop was superb, very cozy with wine, cheeses and meats while cooking.
BRAD F. (TP) 15/06/2015We spent 3 nights and 2 days. We had our adult children and their spouses with us. It was wonderful. We went into the mountains with the goats one day and then to the Abbey and the olive grove the next. Several of our family members enjoyed the cooking class. We had breakfast every day at the restaurant and it was delicious. The dinner, music, and dancing the last evening were unforgettable. The rooms were all beautiful and comfortable. One extra that I really loved was the fruit juice and water stocked in the refrigerators, both in the main area and our room. The best part was how Pasqualino and Annalisa made our visit personal for us. I would highly recommend staying here and would come again.
GRINGOGEOFF (TP) Aprile 2015Experiencing the Food and Cultural Tour at Il Ruspante was the highlight of our family trip to Italy. Pasqualino, Antonella and Annalisa welcomed us like family and toured us around the region over the next several days. The food we enjoyed on the tour was exceptional, especially the local fare and salamis prepared by the owners. Every day we visited a new site while our family learned the history of the area, enjoyed the nearby beaches, learned roman jewelry making, and visited a shepherd family to see the goat cheese making process. The guesthouse has been restored beautifully and we stayed in the "Nonno Bastiano" room with a loft that was perfect for the girls. All of us savored the experience and the girls are asking, "Are we going to go to Pasqualino's again this year?!"
